GET TO KNOW ME

Owner — Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) #21010

Hi, I’m Julie

I believe therapy works best when you feel comfortable enough to be honest, safe enough to explore what’s underneath, and supported enough to try something different.

At the same time, I value understanding the bigger picture, not just managing what’s happening on the surface. This means looking at the patterns, relationships, and experiences that have shaped you, while staying grounded in what you’re experiencing now and what you want for the future.

I bring a warm, conversational, and collaborative approach to that work, balancing depth with practical support so therapy can be both meaningful and useful.

CLINICAL LENS

My Approach to Therapy

Using a research-based, individualized approach, I tailor therapy to each person’s unique needs, preferences, experiences, and goals.

01 — WHAT’S UNDERNEATH

I’m interested in looking beyond the surface to understand what’s underneath. Understanding why something is happening can help make sense of what you’re experiencing, where patterns come from, and what may need to shift.

Attachment-Based

Trauma-Informed

Family Systems Theory

02 — WORKING THROUGH

Insight is only part of the work. Therapy can involve processing difficult emotions and experiences, working through patterns that may be keeping you stuck, and exploring different ways of responding to what comes up.

Emotionally Focused Therapy

Parts Work

Experiential & Depth Oriented

Narrative Therapy

03 — PRACTICAL CHANGE

Therapy can also be a place to put new understanding into practice. This might mean learning skills to manage difficult emotions, communicating differently in your relationships, navigating challenges, or making changes to habits and routines that aren’t working for you.

Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT)

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

04 — BUILDING TRUST

I believe therapy is grounded in a collaborative relationship built on trust, compassion, and respect. I understand that letting another person into your inner world takes trust, which is why how we work together matters deeply to me.

Relational Therapy

Person-Centered Therapy

Compassion-Focused Therapy

YOUR STORY MATTERS

Culturally Responsive & Inclusive

A young woman with long dark hair, glasses, and a white t-shirt is standing in a grassy park with trees in the background. She is smiling and holding a book or notebook in her right hand.

As a second-generation Vietnamese-Chinese Canadian, I know firsthand how culture, family, identity, and lived experiences can shape how we see ourselves and the world.

I also know what it can feel like when those parts of your experience are misunderstood, dismissed, or difficult to explain, and just how meaningful it can be to work with a therapist who understands that context without needing you to constantly justify why it matters. At the same time, I understand that no two lives are alike. Your context is yours to define, and my role is to be curious about what it means to you rather than make assumptions.

I welcome people of all cultural backgrounds, identities, neurotypes, and lived experiences, including LGBTQIA2S+ individuals. My hope is that therapy can be a space where you feel able to bring all parts of yourself into the room and have them met with openness, curiosity, and compassion.
